We host many events throughout the year, including our open days, and regular pony care days and pony rides in the community. Check out our special pages for each type of event. We also have a riding school, with regular lessons for various ability levels.
As well as these, we can also accommodate special private events such as birthday parties, and our facilities can be hired for events such as training courses. Please email or call us to discuss your special requirements.
Our facilities include a large education centre, with tables, chairs and a kitchen area, a round pen and an arena*. We also have a range of horses that may be used, depending on an individual event's needs.
We are fully inspected and insured.
*Please note that work to improve our outdoor facilities is ongoing and so use of the arena can be weather dependent.
NEW FOR 2016!
Be part of a Shy Lowen Horse's story whilst learning the art of starting young horses without the use of pain or force.
Willis is a 4 year old cob. He is difficult to handle, bargy and pushy. Our goal is for Willis to be happy in the company of people, to want to be caught, led and directed and to want to be ridden. To love getting groomed, to love having his feet handled and trimmed and to love being loaded into a trailer or lorry to go on an outing. We have been looking after Willis over the winter and he is much more comfortable with people than he was so his education is now ready to begin in ernest.
So if you'd like to learn the skills we use to create the correct environment for Willis to learn his skills then you can - and now without making any time obligation to Shy Lowen than your learning time. Willis's 'school' time will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm until 7.30pm and on Sundays from 3pm until 4pm.
UPDATE 20/4/16: Willis is doing incredibly well. To quote Bernie, his progress has been 'supremely impressive' and in just a few sessions he has already learned to accept a rider. We're looking forwards to more amazing progress for you to watch and maybe even help with over the coming weeks.
To attend and take part in his training sessions we would like a donation of £5 to be made to Shy Lowen funds. The session on Sunday 3rd April will take place during our open day as an added bonus for people attending.
Experience the spiritual healing power of being with horses by coming along to our peaceful drop in sessions. They run from 1.30pm until 2.30 pm on the second Sunday of each month. It's a great way to experience inner peace. We would appreciate a £5 donation per person but it isn't necessary to make a donation. Refreshments will be available at low cost too.
