Ace

Ace is a grey roan Carneddau Welsh Mountain pony born in 2009. Ace was one of a group of Carneddau Welsh Mountain ponies rescued by Shy Lowen between December 2009 and December 2010. They were part of a round-up of wild male ponies brought down from the mountains in order to control the population. They were sent to auction, but no buyers were found, so they were either to be sold for meat, or put to sleep. Shy Lowen stepped in and found homes for 77 of the ponies. The ponies varied in age, had not been gelded and many were in poor condition. As they were all completely unhandled and untamed, it took many months to gain their trust and restore them to full health. Ace grew into a very handsome young pony who is good to catch and handle. He never began ridden training as he was too young while at the sanctuary and his temperament was still quite nervous and spooky, which would make him unsuitable for the size of child he would need as a rider. Ace’s ideal home would be as a companion pony and pet.
